ironman
I've heard of people hunting on Forest Lake. I suppose the best be would be to check with the DNR.
Guest
Any lake with a public access or right of way that is not located within city, or township limits with shooting restrictions. You must be X number of feet from houses and livestock also.. not sure the exact distance.

wrshog
I'd check that distance with the DNR. I am pretty sure it is 1000ft from livestock but I do not think there is a minnimum distance from any dwellings. I called them with that question last year and the person I talked to said there was no reference to distance from a dwelling or road. I have always thought there was though. The city /township ordinances on shooting within their limits take precident over the DNR regs.
Mark Christianson
DNR reg is 500 feet. Here it is out of the book(page 12). But remember, that counties or townships can override this and have a different rule in place. On another person’s private land or a public right-of-way, a personmay not take a wild animal with a firearm within 500 feet of a buildingoccupied by humans or livestock without written permission. wrshog
Bigblake I know exactly wht you are talking about in the DNR regs but it DOES NOT apply to public waters. It is only livestock, private property and public rights of way while on land. As long as you are in the water, your boat is floating in the cat tails, you're standing in water etc... you can legally hunt waterfowl. It may not be the most neighborly thing to do but it is legal. This is of course subject to local township and city ordinances prohibiting the discharge of firearms.Call the DNR if you don't believe me, I just did. 651-296-6157
