Transom Trolling Motor Problems.

I recently bought a new Fishhawk 1750 tiller with a 75 Yamaha 4-stroke that had wave wackers and a minnkota transom mount tolling motor. The problem is that with the trolling motor mounted you cant open the battery storage compartment because the motor mounting bolts stick out and the compartment door hits them. I don't want to have to take the trolling motor off everytime I want to charge my battery. What should I do, somehow make the bolts shorter, or call Crestliner and see what they say. Has anyone else had this problem. Thanks.

Get yourself an on-board charge. Eliminates the need to open the battery compartment. You will periodically need to remove the batteries to check that water. No way around that...

have you checked your dealer or Cableas for quick change bracket?

I thought about a onboard charger which I will probly get but I still have to open it to get the cord out. I also would like to use that compartment for extra space. I don't think they make a removable bracket for a transom mount.
