Waterfowl Hunting on DL

Recommended Posts

Would anyone mind sharing a little info on Devil's Lake waterfowl hunting? I am a non-resident who has been making an annual waterfowl trip to ND for years. We generally hunt a pothole region between Jamestown and Devil's Lake. Hunting is consistently decent to excellent most years. This year we are thinking it would be fun to try some big water hunting. Naturally, DL comes to mind. But, we are not familiar with which area(s) to hunt, and where the access points are. I am not looking for anyone to reveal a secret spot. But if you could point me in the right direction for a starting point or two, that would be so awesome. Divers, puddlers, or both. You can post or email me at: [email protected].

It all depends on wind when your thinking about fising the big water of Devils Lake. Pelican Lake would be my first choice if I were you. Usually low amounts of hunters and a surplus of ducks. You'll see plenty of divers and puddle ducks. Black tiger Bay can be really good also expecially late in the season. For a variety of ducks I would pick Pelican Lake and there are a number of places you can launch a boat. Watch the wind when your out on Devils Lake we dont want to hear of anybody getting stranded out there.

Good Luck
