Vermillion Regulations Change Proposed

The MN DNR has scheduled a public input meeting for anglers to review and comment on their proposed regulation change on the Vermillion River.

The MN DNR's proposed regulation change on the Vermillion includes catch & release of all brown trout in the designated portion of the Vermillion. However, anglers could continue to harvest rainbow trout, which are stocked by the DNR at Rambling River Park in Farmington each spring.

Dirk Peterson, DNR regional fisheries manager said, "This regulation will allow us to protect the Vermillion's naturally reproducing trophy brown trout, while maintaining the opportunity for some anglers to keep a few fish"

An open house to gather input on the proposal will be held from 7-9 pm, Tuesday, Sept.6, at the Rambling River Center, 431 Third St., Farmington.

Written comments will be accepted on the proposal through Sept. 20. The adress is: DNR Fisheries, 1200 Warner Road, St. Paul, MN 55106.

You can also direct questions or comments to Brian Nerbonne at (651) 772-7965 0r area fisheries supervisor Dave Zappetillo at (651) 772-7963
