hanson
What a fun night on the river tonight!! Fisher Dave, myself, and another metro fishing buddy hit the mighty Mississippi for some fast and furious channel cat action tonight. Ended up with 24 cats in the boat, 20 channels & 4 flatheads. All the channels were running between 5 & 10 pounds, the flatties were a little smaller than that. Its been awhile since I've seen an honest double and I think we had 2 tonight. All fish were caught on cutbait, except 1 of the flatties taken on a bullhead.
fiskyknut
We got er done too on friday evening. Myself, Dirtball and another bud hit the shores of the Red. Fishing kinda slow but we all managed a good one, Dirtballs first time on the Red, he got a nice 32.5 incher, my Buddy Greg got a beauty 36 incher and yours truly got the big one of the day a behemoth 37.5 inch fatty. Frogs caught all these big ones. Water drops a bit more and the current slows a bit and the fishing will be better for sure. And, a 35 pound Channel cat was caught last week and weighed in hallock. 3 pounds shy of the MN record out of the missisippi, and heavier than the ND record out of the Red.....WOW! Hanson, fishing will just get better later this month and thru september. Iffin you guys wanna make a trip up mid/late september is a very good timeframe to shoot for. Anytime in Sepember really can shine. October can be very good too, Wiskers pulled some dandies at Drayton last year late in October, around the 22nd if I remember right? Only thing about hooking up in October is I also have the fall Rainy river Shiner/Walleye run and some great sturgeon fishing to partake in too! Hanson shoot me an email and we can scratch our heads eh. fiskyknut at yahoo
