Pike of the dock.

Recommended Posts

I was fishing this morning off my dock, throwing a moss boss (black) into the lily pads and I got a couple of hits by some northerns. They never didi take it. What should I try so I can catch them?

Make sure you feel the fish before you set the hook, I know I am real good at jumping the gun with surface baits and try setting the hook at the onset of all the splashing pulling the bait away from the fish before they clamp on.

The silver minnows with a plastic trailer can sometimes be real good in pads. I used to use those all the time for bass and pike. You can drag those right across the top of the pads and drop them in the holes and they dont snag up very easily. And they work well heading out the weeds also. Definitely one of my favorites. But otherwise I agree on waiting a while after the fish attacks the bait on top, wait till you feel the pull of the fish.
