Scenic
Ok Time to fish something new here. I am interested in this event. I have very little experience with the cats so I am going to need some help here. From what I have hard about the last outing I missed a good time.Who else is going to attend?? hanson
Jeff-There is a good list of names going in the Crookston forum. I'll be there. Your right, last years event was a good time. I'd recommend this gathering for anybody. There should be some knowledgable river rats attending who would be more than happy to share. Lots of good shorefishing opportunities here for those who are boatless! The river is very high right now and I had trouble catching anything this weekend when I was up visiting the parents. Once it drops back down, the fishing will most likely improve!
Wiskers
Thats for sure, we will have to keep our fingers crossed for no more rain this month... sigh... The river is starting to drop again from about 12 feet. 8 feet and down is a good level.Hope to see ya there Jeff.. .Them Angel Eye jigs are the ticket.... Just pounded the Eyes on the river with them before it shot up like crazy.. cant wait to try them out again...
hanson
OK everybody, the Catfish Gathering is almost here. Scroll on down to the Crookston Forum for more details. You don't need a boat to attend this one, there is some really good shore fishing available. I think Rusty will also be having the big fish contest this year again. Last year was $10 to enter, biggest fish takes the pot. Gathering is this upcoming Saturday, July 30 on the Red Lake River, Crookston MN. We'll be fishing all day. See ya there! This was one of the best gatherings I attended last year!
Wiskers
The cats are just finishing the second spawn and they are huge. We just pulled in two 12#, 16# 18# and an all time record of 22.10#. some of them had heads on them that would pull 30# but the bodies are all spawned out but they are starting to put on the feed bags... Hope to see you all here.............

hanson
2nd Annual Fishing Minnesota Catfish Gathering Champion My dad, Randy Hanson, with a gorgeous 14.25 pound Channel Catfish. Congratulations!! Forgot to mention that fish is my dad's personal best channel cat. Picked a good time to catch it. That old Ugly Stick walleye rod sure was put up to the challenge with this fish. I'm just glad the net boy didn't screw it up.
