carb problems?

walleye_guy18

Question

I have an early 60s johnson 5.5hp. It ran really well until yesterday. I was going across the lake when it started bogging down. it idles fine but when it gets to about half throttle it starts to bog down. do you guys think the carb has something stuck in it? any suggestions for correcting the problem. thanks for any help

maybe the carb, I would lean more towards the coil.. they sometimes start to arc when the rpms get up(when they are failing).

You cant overlook the carb, but most of the time in my past it has been an electrical problem in cases like you have(I have had a lot of old johnson/evinrude motors)
