What size inline fuse should I run???

Hey Guys. I'm going to run power back from my front battery to my transom mount electric and was wondering what size inline fuse should I put on the line? Is a 50 amp to much? Thanks for any response, Junky....

What size wire did you run and how many amps does the transom motor pull? If you ran a #8 wire it is good to 50 amps.

Hey Mnguy. I have 6 gauge to run back, but the female plugin looks to be 8 amp. I do have an 50amp self resetting fuse. I was just wondering if I'm good to go? The trolling motor is a Minnkota 50lb or 55lb 12 volt Maxxum. Not sure what the max draw on it is. Thanks for the help, Junky....

If it where mine I'd feel pretty safe with 50 amp in that situation.

#6 copper wire is good to 65 amps so you don't have to worry about melting the wire.

I've got a 65lb Autopilet, dealer installed, They used 8 guage wire with a 30 amp fuse and I have had no problems on a 24 volt system. good luck HTB

I have a 12 volt 55 lb thrust with a 50 amp breaker. The only times it has tripped is when I've struck a rock with he trolling motor.
