Bringing Bait Over the Manitoba Bordere

Anybody have any thoughts on bringing suckers into Manitoba as far as do's and don'ts? It looks like suckers are legal. Would it be OK to bring them over dead and on ice vs. frozen? I'm assuming redhorses are ok because they are in the same sucker family. How about size limits - Dennis said he knew someone who got nailed for bringing over bait that was too large. Could I fillet them out - leave the scales on - and bring them over like that? Is there a number I can call to get questions answered? I tried one but got frustrated afters 5 minutes of recordings. Maybe I need a little patience. Thanks in advance for any help.

I know they have to be dead. I've always left the average sized suckers whole & put them on ice in a cooler. On my last trip up to Selkirk I brought up some larger redhorse suckers but filleted them into cut-bait sized chunks & put them in a zip-lock bag on ice. Larger redhorse are kind of nasty to fillet, but they produced very well. I'd rather deal with 8-10 white suckers. I personnally haven't had any custom issues bringing bait over this way. - Vern
