0 mamohr686
you might want to check the lower unit oil. If it comes out milky then water may have rusted your gears and lower unit. Are you shure your motor is shifting from foward to neutral? The problem may also be a broken/rusted cable in the shift linkage. To replace a broken or frozen cable you looking at about $250 at a dealer. All the lower unit gears and shaft minus the housing may cost up to $1800. 0 tonyjor
Could be the shear pin also. Did you happen to run up a little shallow last time you had it running?
0 mnvikingsfreak
I bought the boat in feb thinking the prop was just frozen I made a mistake I got the boat and motor and trailer for 300 bucks I havent ran the boat yet the cable shifts the motor I can see it but when I drained the lower end nothing came out so im guessing the lower end is rusted together Is this a major prob or will a little oil loosen it up? 0 Tonka Boy
I'm guessing it's all rusted up. For the cost of a lower unit, you may be better off finding a good used motor instead. Hopefully luck is on your side and I'm wrong.
0 MRWALLEYE2005
It also could be that the person he bought it from drained the lower unit before they sold it. Have you tried adding some oil in there?
