I throw a ton of jerkbaits at pike. I've found that many suspending jerkbaits, Rapala Huskie Jerks for one, can't stand up to the beating. But... take a look at the Rapala Saltwater versions of the Huskie Jerk. The Saltwater Huskie Jerks are less expensive, built tougher and are equipped with more substantial hooks, that won't rust. I have found their colours are more to old essox's liking. I personally have become confident in the Red/white model. Give them a try. And save your money!
