SE MN River/Stream Conditions

I got a report this morning from a buddy who owns some land along the Middle Branch Whitewater. He regularly checks levels and turbidity (visibility) of his stretch.

As of this morning, the visibility was only 3cm and the stream was up 6". However, conditions have improved already this afternoon. Considering that the rain was a quick dumping last night, and not a prolonged event, the best guess is that turbidity tomorrow should be 10-15cm, and back to better than 25cm (very fishable) on Saturday.

With that said, for Saturday I would expect slightly stained water on your average stream, clear on headwaters, and a little high and stained on larger waters (Root, Zumbro, Main Branch WW).

BTW, rain was less over Fillmore and Houston counties than in Olmsted, Winona, and Wabasha. Check here for rain totals around the area.

Good luck this weekend!
