Where did the monster skis go

Recommended Posts

I was just thumbing through a 1978 infisherman muskie mag that listed the top 30 muskies ever caught. There are some amazing fish in this mag. A couple things bothered me though. half the fish were caught by four people and there isn't a minnesota muskie even close.

Art Lawton and his wife alone have 1st 69-15, 4th 68.5, 7th 65.13, 15th 61-4, 17th 60-8, 22nd 59-5, 24th 58-13 and 25th 58-5. All of these fish were caught on the St Lawrence River NY. Mostly on Pike minnows.

Betty and Len Hartman have 7 fish in the top 30,and 12 in the top 50.

Top 30 = 15 NY fish all from the St Lawrence.

6 from Wisc

5 ontario

3 Mich

ooooo Minnesota, 3 Ontarios that were from LOTW.

I knew that there would't be any MN fish with our record only being in the mid 50s. But I couldn't believe that there wasn't a Canadien in the top 15 fish.

I would bet that there were fish caught in the 60 lb range in both MN and Canada though. Maybee they were in remote areas too far up north or the people who caught these fish just didn't care or know. Its hard to belive that in the 30s 40s 50s and 60s Wisc. can produce a 60 pounders and just next door we cant ever catch any.

Has this list changed. fish number 20 is 60lbs has any one beat this.

There is also a 72lb netted muskie in this article.

May 2, 1977 Pymatuning Pennsylvania.

Penn claimed to have the highest road count for deer last year and now they think they have muskies. Get real. jk

People in God's country need to do some serious work to change this list
