travwinkleman
Just curious what size drift sock to purchase. I own a 16ft fiberglass tri-hull. I dont wanna go to big to slow me down or to small to not hit the proper drift I need. There were 2 or 3 different sizes, just wanna get it right the first time. What ya guys suggest? Thanks! Ole #1
You want the drift sock to slow you down, why else use it? I have an 18 ft boat and I have 2 drift socks rated for a 20 ft boat. Most times I only use one, but I've had to use them both.
stick
I have some of the rubber coated type, and I would like to buy the thinner nylon style since the nylon style ones fold up in more of a compressed fashion. I bought the ones that are advertised to be puncture proof, but I don't think it's needed. I'd go lighter-weight. Anybody agree or disagree?I would also go with 2 and for your size boat or one notch up.
LMITOUT
I just bought my first sock which had the float and harness included. For drifting will I need to add a section of rope to the harness, or can I just attach the harness to the boat cleat which will keep the sock close to the boat? BTW, I bought a 50" for my 16.5' aluminum boat. From what I've heard, go one size up from what is recommended on the package.
