temperature readout on lowrance x67c ???

I had the "ice fishing" transducer on my x67c last winter and now I put on the skimmer style for the boat and niether one will display the temperature. The unit just flashes 32.0 all the time. I called lowrance and they said that both transducers should show the actual temp. and that I should send it in. Does anyone know what the problem is (maybe an easy fix) or should I just send it in.

My guess is that there is something wrong with the temp. sensor, I had a X67c last year and didn't have any problems with reading water temp. Good Luck.
