Using A car battery for a electric trolling motor

It'll work, but a car battery is built for a short, quick draw of power for the starter. A trolling motor (or deep cycle battery) is built for a longer lower amp pull on the cells. You can get by, but the car battery will run down a bit faster and after repeated chargings lose it's ability to hold a charge.

If ya got one and don't plan on trolling all day or have a small lighter boat, I'd use it until it gives up, then get a deep cycle.
