GPS Plug-n-Play chips?

MNBIGBEAR

Question

Im looking at buying one of these for my Lowrance LMS-240. Have you guys tried any of these? Ive been looking at the Navionics and Lakemaster ones. I fish Vermilion mostly if that matters. Thanks for any tips.

MNBIGBEAR, as much as I like the Lakemaster products, they have a disclaimer which states that the Lakemaster Pro chip will NOT work in the Lowrance LMS240 unit. Other posters on other threads have alluded that a new Navionics chip with high definition lake contour maps for Minnesota is in the works. Have no idea if it will work in your unit. Good luck and good fishing.

I bought the Lowrance lakemaster chip primarily because you can zoom in so much closer than the Navonics. Also it is supposed to have a much faster response time. Also from the response on this site it sounds like this is the hot chip!

Oh, and if you do decide on the lakemaster, make sure you get the new pro-map version, not the Elite version. From what I understand much more accurate, and Vermilion is on it. Good luck.

Thanks for the info guys. I looked on the lakemaster site and the chip for all of MN said no go for the LMS-240. There was a chip for just Vermilion that said it would work for ALL LMS models. I Looked at the Navionics HSOforum too and they have an elite series out now that has 1 foot contours but it is only for the newer units. Im thinking the Lakemaster one might be what I go for since all I really fish on a regular basis is Vermilion. Thanks again though guys.
