Open Water Fish Frenzy

Hey all,

I went to visit my grandfather this weekend in Clear Lake, Iowa. Since I was there, and the lake was free of ice, I had to wet a line. Well, I'm glad I did! On Saturday while wading in a rock/ gravel bottom area I first hooked into and caught a 32 inch Muskie with a fuzzy grub (released of course), and then proceeded to catch 14 walleyes. I kept two 16 inchers, let a couple go that were over 20", and the rest that were released were all around 12-13 inches. So if you really need to get your open water fix in (like me), you may want to head down that way. $9 for a non-resident one day license, about a 2.5 hour drive from the twin cities.

Good luck!

BTW, yes, the season is open for walleyes, pike, etc.
