Bluegills in their prime

What time of year are blugills going to weigh the most? I've recently found a second lake in a year that produces 10"+ bluegills and right now they seem skinny. I'm interested in catching them when they are as fat as they can get.

When they eat the most and get fat,sorry couldnt help myself.

Your best bet for full sized fish is just prior to ice up and that short first ice period.
