0 New Yankee
Lee Harvey,I've done a couple and been both ways with them. I think the marine grade stuff out now is a whole lot easier on the knees during the summer in shorts than some of the cheap astro turf stuff. When you get down to it, the cost of the carpet is pretty insignificant when compared to the time and effort involved, or really a week end on the water. Steve Bakken gave a tip on laying the stuff that I've just been lucky to good right in the past - lay it with the nap pointed towards the stern so water will flow toward your bilge with out having to 'fight' the nap of the carpet. I'd go with the higher end stuff - the cheap stuff wears pretty well, but ultimately looks cheap also.... my two...
0 Dennis Steele
I have done two boats with Menards outdoor carpet. THe level loop stuff not the plastic astro turf. The carpet held up just fine and cost about half of what marine grade carpet cost. The problem with the Menards carpet was hooks get caught in it easier than the marine grade stuff.
