Mikinaak
Can any one tell me how the Granby contest works?Do you have to participate every day or can you go up say sunday and fish just one day? Thanks
bearenit0
You can fish Sunday only as long as you pay the entry fee before fishing. However, the contest only lasts until 12:00 or 12:30pm on Sunday.
Mikinaak
Thanks for the reply. Is the contest a progressive contest or are there "daily" winners? Is this a lake trout only contest? I'm not sure i want to drive that far but I'm sure there are other people who read this that would also like to know more information about the contest. bearenit0
There are several categories. (Can't remember them all) Lake trout(under 20" or over 38") brown trout, rainbow and koke... then there's the grand slam which is one of each of the before mentioned species. You may upgrade the fish once during the contest. Kids have their different classes as well. Be sure to read the rules VERY closely before going out. (Do not rely on my memory). It's a great contest. bearenit0
Forgot to answer most of your questions. (which is why you should not rely on my memory) I don’t believe there are any hourly prizes at this one. It is the largest fish (by weight) in the end. If you catch the heaviest fish in the category the first day, and no one passes you up the next two days...you win. That's what happened to me last year in the open water contest. Of course I dislocated and broke my shoulder in the process, but hey, a win is a win.
Mikinaak
OK Bear!broken shoulder and everthing...all kidding aside. Thanks alot for your insight, not sure what the family would like to do yet this weekend, sure sounds like fun.Paul
bearenit0
I wish I were kidding. I was thrown from the boat and onto the dock while going to weigh the fish. Pretty much messed up the rest of the year due to surgery. But I'm ready to go this year.
