Sharkbait
New to fishin Lakers - In reading the posts on Slippery Lakers - What Size piece of Sucker Meat do you use for those 16 - 20 inchers. Also if you leave a piece of the skin on, does it make a difference (or not) if the scales face up - or down (like if they take it from the front or from behind or should they be horizontal like - Or does that not make any difference. Kinda Dumb Question Maybe but fishing Lakers is something new to me and I would appreciate any answers on this. Dan DAN the fisherman
Shark, I use a very small piece. Leave the skin & scales on for sure. I put my hook through the meat side of the piece and push it all the way through the skin and scales. Make sure you clear any scales that are stuck part way on your hook. I only buy the big suckers 2-3 pounders, and cut little pieces off of them 1" square or maybe 1" wide by 1.5" long. I think that the bigger suckers with the bigger scales work better. Thats just my opinion though. I do buy smaller suckers for dead baiting Pike though. Hope this helps, Dan

John19
Definately leave the skin on, otherwise you'll have a hard time keeping the bait on. Make sure the point of the hook is all the way through, with no scales on the point. John
