hosting an ice fishing tourney

I am a assitant pastor and want to host a ice fishing tourney for our youth group. Charge around $15.00 and use half of the proceeds for their accounts. Use the other half and put it back into the prizes. Also find some donaters, and sponsers. I am looking to do it in Feb, in the north metro area. Any advice or input on any detail of this? Thanks.

I don;t know what laws are in effect in the meto area, the legion post in Elysian has had a fishing contest for the last 20+years, on Lake Francis, the the bay we have it in is located inside the city limits, we have to get a permit from both the city and the county sherrif and arange for a deputy to be in attendance during the contest. Our contest is held the 2nd sunday in feb. Goodluck getting your conest under way.
