loebs93
Just got a new Strikemaster and I am just wondering what the purpose of the yellow compression relief valve is. I understand it relieves some of the pressure and makes starting easier but is it like a primer or pump?
anchor man
The button is just to make it pull easier, If you try without pushing the button in, you'll see that it's pretty tough to pull. This has nothing to do with priming. I believe they increased the compression to kick out more torque, therefore needing a compression relief button to make it pull easier
hanson
Yep- Just makes it easier to pull over.Alot of the early 70s one-lunger snowmobile engines had compression releases on them. There is no way you would be a able to pull start a larger displacement single without one.
