anyone still deer hunting?

Not sure how to answer your questions. I was out a few times this weekend. I did quite a bit of walking just around the 25 acres of woods on my place & my neighbors. There's deer tracks everywhere in the woods & along the alfalfa field, all since the snow Thursday night, but I didn't see any. I found 8-9 beds, probably 3-4 sets made by the same doe & fawn I'm guessing, based on bed & track size. I did find signs of them digging the alfalfa out of the snow, but with all the corn still standing it'd probably be best to target some of that. I had access to some, but didn't make it out there. I also found tracks in the river bottom & crossing the river on the slushy ice.

I also hunted Friday night on another property & there were a lot of tracks in a hayfield that had to have been made sometime between midnight Thursday & 3pm, probably when it was still dark.

Yep, still givin' er' a try. They have been coming out of the cattails at going to a couple of Soybean patches that I left in the field. They also have been hanging around the various clover/alfalfa food plots that I have. My suggestion (which is almost a "no brainer" statement) is to locate the best food source that you can and hunt it. Most activity that I have been seeing is the typical first light and last light. I have seen some buck activity related to does again recently.

Heard of some buck following doe incidents this weekend too but didn't witness it. The deer I saw were pretty herded up already and we haven't even really had weather yet... I did see a couple bucks doing some head butting and pushing/shoving (I think for show for some does nearby) which I thought was a little strange this time of year and when they are herding up.

I was out bowhunting Dec 4th and 5th. Seen a couple does. Am going to hit it again this weekend. Saturday for sure when the cold starts to hit. Possibly Sunday if I can as well will play it by ear. I still have my buck and doe tag left after a slow Rifle season. Hoping the cold will push them out of the corn during hunting hours. Will let you know what I find. Also will be out Christmas weekend. I will be hunting till the last hour this year.

I don't know if it will push deer out of the corn, but colder temps force deer to feed much heavier, so they have a tendancy to leave their beds and head for the food sources earlier, giving you a better chance at catching one during shooting hours. I think that deer that are in the corn during daylight hours are bedded and will stay in the corn to feed, but if have standing corn where you hunt yet, that's a goldmine for late season!

I was out last weekend, saw a doe and two fawns run across the field, acting spooky. Too much ML activity. I'll be out freezin' and swingin' tomorrow. Hopefully the coming temp. drop is going to get them to come by. I will be stalking the standing corn after some early morning stand time. Landowners stated that they were seeing deer mostly around the standing corn.

I saw a deer walking out in the middle of a wide open pasture after 8:00 on my way to work this morning, I was late, maybe that was a coincidence or maybe they are starting to move a little more. I need to go check out the standing corn fields at my Dad's place.
