rap
i have a vex and aquavu, i use my camera sparingly since i hate the time it takes to set it up and move it when necessary.... anyone use the genz style of downviewing where you point the camera straight down and place it in the same hole you fish from? i'm going to try that this winter but am concerned about fish getting tangled in it? i have enough problems with fish getting tangled in my vex when i don't take it out! thats always a fun time to lose a fish when you get tangled in the cord! thanks for any info. Ed Carlson
I prefer to use the Aqua View in the downview position for walleye and catfish at or after dark. They appear to be less spooked by the constant light source from above verses from the side and below. You set the camera up just high enough above your bait presentation to see the eye's move into view after dark and they seldom spook. I also prefer a second hole set side by side for the camera. Set a mark up on the cable with a piece of colored electrical tape to indicate the designated depth you want for the camera. Then when you need to lift the unit to get it out of the way you can re-set it without dinking around too much. One of the handiest gadgets out there for a camera is the Aqua View Mo-Pod unit. Remote operated up-down-left-right so you can keep your hands free to fish. With a bit of ingenuity, you can position the remote on your rod handle if you wish. Very handy system for use on the ice with other electronics in close proximity. You can manage the camera without jumping around fighting a fish. Deitz Dittrich
Yep.. downview, its the way to fish in the winter... It takes a bit to get the hang of how far down the fish is.. but once you do.. You will not go back to horizontle. I still use horizontle to check out my surroundings, but once I am fishing I will use downview.
