FBTC
Anyone got ice? Are you using the new Fish Brothers tip-ups?
Northlander
Had mine out the other day. Worked well but Im going to replace the green flag with a orange. Put a extra nut on so the screw wouldnt spin when I loosened or tightened the tension. Ok now. Put some bells on the flag and that little spring gets them jingling pretty good. My only complaint is that i would like a taller flag. The real test is yet to come. Cold weather. The black covers do help keep holes open and the bases are sturdy. They look goofy but have been fun to work with so far.
Mike Walerak
I agree so far so good! At first it took some getting used to seeing the small flag. Now that I have seen the little bugger flip up few times I can pick it out no problem. I am going to pick up some orange flags for them next time I get to a sporting goods store. I have them rigged up with 25lb mono for the line to a swivel and then 8lb leader. So far I've caught pike, walleyes and perch on them. Trying for a crappie still. Largest was a 34" Northern. I have ben trying to get some pics with them but the only times I do well on them I'm alone. The black does actually keep the hole open better than my Frabil inslulated tip-up. My buddy actually spepped on the black base by accident this morning and it never broke so I'm leaning towards "very durable". Anyone else been using them?mw
Buck44
I tried out my new fish brothers tip up this morning. I have 2 sets now and love them. They are very durable and easy to use. I like how they pack together in the container. No exposed hooks to get tangled in clothing. As for keeping the holes open, they work great. I'm heading up to lake of the Woods tomorrow and will put them to the test with minus 20 temps.
