Sod Farmer
I am in the process of building my first permanant fishing shack (6.5' X 10'). Am I correct in assuming that I will need to anchor it down to prevent it from blowing across the ice? If so, how do you anchor your house? I realize that it would take a pretty stiff wind to get it to slide, but it seems possible.
hunt4food
No, you should be ok. Just use the slush from the ice holes to bank around the corners. Drill a couple of extra holes outside if you need more ice chips. It should stay put then. If you are still worried, just attach an eye bolt outside of the shack. Drill an ice hole, attach a rope to the eye bolt, tie the rope on to a 2' long piece of 2x2 lumer and push it all the way down the hole until it crosses the hole down below. then you can just rely on it to keep the shack from moving. You will need an ice chisel to remove the wood and rope if you move the shack. Don't just leave it in there as it would be considered littering and not sportsmanlike.
