bgfish00
I am borrowing a Drop Down Fish House this week for Hunting and I noticed the Rig did not have a Trailer License. Does it need a Trailer License for Minnesota?

Ronsay
If you use it as a fish house only, you can get by with the regulations for a portable. If you use it for hunting or camping you will need a license on it.Ron
Kaz
I don't think so!! I've used mine at many different times of the year and been looked at by the SP as well as locals. First of all, it doesn't qualify for a travel trailer because it is missing several required components... Check the trailer regs and they are defined. I tried to licence mine once and was refused. The DOT said it wasn't a travel trailer!!! Kaz
bgfish00
Well, My Brother in Law Called DMV and they Said as long as the Wheels are Permanetly Attached and you can not take it off and use it as a separte Trailer, It is a Fish House. The Did say you the Fish House License should be on there though...
Ronsay
I talked to the DMV again today about this as I went through it last year when I purchased my wheel house. He stated that if it was being used for hunting it would need a trailer license, he also went on to say that if it was him personally, he would not buy the license. He stated that it was strictly a DNR issue, and it was very unlikely that a person would have a problem using there icehouse for a purpose other than fishing with only the portable tag on it.I will go by what I was told today, you shouldn't have any problems using it for hunting.Ron
Finn-Hunk
I do believe that if you have cargo doors on the back of the house it would need a license. As then it can be used for hauling things and would need to be licensed as a utility trailer.
