Downrigger / Dipsey Diver Rods

I'm looking at adding a couple of downriggers to my boat next year but in the meantime I am looking at doing some trolling for 'eyes with a dipsey diver (say down to 20'). My question is on rods. I notice dipsey diver rods are usually around 9-10' and trolling rods are 8' with most other specs the same (glass, medium weight, moderate action). If I purchase a couple of 8' trolling rods (Shimano Talora) will they work reasonably well for Dipsey divers? Thanks

Absolutely, the downrigger rods will work just fine on the dipsys till you get equipped with downriggers.

I second ST's post. I worked on a Charter boat this year and Talora's are great - Go to the med+ action as the ML will be too soft!
