Battery Powered Ice Augers

Mankato-Ice-Man

Question

Anyone here used one or better yet own one of the newer ones?

I am thinking of selling my gas auger and buying one of the new Lazer ones with the self contained battery and all.

I am not someone who goes out and moves all over the place. I usually drill my four holes and sit, might move once at the most.

Any thoughts or input would be great.

Thanks in advance!

I got mine late last winter. I had drilled 7 holes in the same day through 2ft of ice without running out of power. I did have some problems with it bogging down but I am told that it may have one of the bad thermocouples.

I'd recomend it to anyone who doesn't drill a ton of holes or someone who doesn't want to worry about the engine not starting.

I run a Jiffy gas auger outside, and a Lazer battery powered inside. I will never again use the gas powered one inside for a number of reasons: smell, bulky, ice flies everywhere. The battery auger runs slower any you can control it so much better. Easier to "re-drill" holes. Less ice flying around, you can git into corners easier and you don't bang your knuckles. But here is the million dollar reason to use a battery operated auger indoors..... If you reverse the polarity on your battery after you drill the hole, 75% of the shaved ice goes back down the hole. I've been doing it for years and it reduces the amount of ice you have to scoop. Buy one!
