Valv
It did upset me, since an estimate like that is way out of line. The reason of buying a boat like this is the fact you can save a lot money and still have a very nice boat. If you have to get it fixed spending a fortune does not make any sense, as might as well buy a new one at dealership. To me make sense fixing this one to a level where is safe an secure to use, maybe not 100% as good looking as a new one, but you will pay thousands of $$ less, while having a fine fishing boat.I have a boat for sale, you are trying to discourage everybody from buying it with an overpriced repair estimate. If you want to be Mr. Perfection, well... go to a dealer and buy a new one, other people, will be smarter, repair this one and save a bundle over you.Sorry if I upset you, but you had this coming. smalls
ValV, He didn't have anything coming, he got a professional estimate! You never qualified your estimate as "will functionally repair", you said $1000 MAX to fix. IMO, you have no right to get huffy when some pulls out the talk flag on your estimate! He is just being a consumer advocate.smalls

SXViper
Valv,The 1700 Fish only has the IPS hull not the IPS2 hull. Just to clear up any confusion. One thing i noticed when looking at the pics. Why would someone spend $1500 for gauges and only $150 on a depth finder. Not trying to detract anything from the boat.[This message has been edited by SXViper (edited 02-13-2004).]
Valv
Smalls that was NOT a professional estimate, if you want to debate get real, otherwise don't stick your nose in business you don't know what you are talking about.Cbprov apologizes accepted, no problem, but still point is estimate is way too high, without physically inspecting boat nobody can be precise, and accurate, consequently there is no sense posting what it would cost.My $ 1,000 is exactly what I would spend on this boat to have it safely back on waters. How ? Just straighten metal, seal holes, small paint job, and you are fishing with a boat you paid half of what market demand. It has been done many times and it's an accurate estimate. Last year I had a Pro-V with same damage but smaller, I used JB Weld aluminum putty, sealed holes and I used it whole year. If you are in doubt ask Bucketrack which bought boat from me, and he will use it this way, if you think I'm too cheap...too bad, but I had a Pro-V for 1/2 price of new one.I priced it with Best Offer, that means somebody comes tomorrow with $ 9,500 it drives away with this boat. The savings....huge, even with Genmar estimate. I just had Garytheguide from lake Vermilion forum here working and he said he wished he didn't buy his 17' Angler at 16,000 last year....Regarding sonar, I agree 100% but I believe previous owner used it for pleasure, not fishing, in fact it didn't have a trolling motor and a swim platform is definitely in the way if you are fishing. I think sonar was just to know what depth they were.[This message has been edited by Valv (edited 02-13-2004).]
