FOOTDOC
Just returned last evening from our annual jaunt to LOTW. We stayed at Obabikon Bay Camp and fished both Miles and the Obabikon Bays. Small walleyes, 12-13" can be had most any bay in Miles. We found better fish in the 25' depth range on the edge of the bays using jigs/crawlers. Our biggest walleye was 27" caught in 25' of water on a very large reef on the southeast side of Miles as you enter the bay coming from the camp. That reef was very productive and the other reefs were just OK. Did catch a 42" muskie with a jig and crawler that was pretty exciting! Caught a surprising number of large crappies on jig/crawler. Never really targeted crappie and did not use minnows. The obabikon was a bit slow for northerns casting shorelines. The wind was brutal and the temps a bit nippy but not bad. I was happy we hit Miles on the calm days. The brush piles in front of Target Rock in the obabikon gave nice limits of big crappies to other members in our camp. Overall, a good trip despite my oldest boy coming down with an extremely painful kidney stone that sent us home a day early. He is ok now and ready to fish again!
