Fished Boyd early this AM and limited out on eyes. SW side on leeches. One was 21" & one 19". I think they were after perch because I also caught four perch over 8" on crawlers.

Hey John, I'm going to try Boyd Tue 7/26 I fished it about a month ago caught 10 fish on bottom bouncers with crawlers on crawler harness and Rappela's, caught mostly wipers, only 1 eye 10 inches, threw it back, the crawler harness was longer then the Eye. Got all of em on the South East Side of the Lake. Will hit it again in the a.m. Let ya know what happens. Fished Chatfield yesterday Sun 4pm till 4am Mon, bummer. Threw back (1) 17 inch Eye at 7:30 pm. Used 2 rodholder's one off each side of the pontoon. Used everything out of 4 - 6 drawer boxes and 2 smaller boxes, not another hit on anything. Cant fish Chat till after dark, cant believe the speedboats that come with 20 feet of the pontoon while fishing. One guy had a boat like the Budwieser Racing boat, had to be going at least 60-70mph with a rooster tail at least 20 feet high, came 4 times within 20 feet of my boat, scary.

Sharkbait, how deep of water do you use bottom bouncers. I'm thinking about trying that out but haven't used them very much. I was also wondering how long of a leader you use from the rig. Any info. woull be great.

Fished Boyd Mon and Tue, caught 9 Wipers all less than 10 inches, threw em all back, caught 1 Walleye 18 1/2 inches. Caught em all on 2 oz bottom bouncers with a about a 2 foot leader on a 3 hook crawler harness in 32-34 feet of water and all on the South East side of boyd. Fished the SW side per info from John but didn't even get a blip on the fish finder. However a lot of action on the South East Side in front of the last 4 houses on the SE side of the lake. The 4th house from the end on the SE side a guy has a motor home parked in his back yard, theres a trough that runs 34 feet deep from in front of where that motorhome is parked to the outlet on the SW side. Caught everything in that depression, and could see a lot of fish hanging on the incline. Had a lot of images on the fishfinder in this area. Everytime I fish boyd I have most of my action and cathes there. John is probably a heck of a lot better fisherman than I but I have never got much action on the SW end. My screen shows a lot of structure and a fair amount of fish on the NE end but I have best luck on the SE and in front of the last 4 houses and from about 100 feet out from the beach. Hey I only got 1 keeper and John did a lot better than on the other end so ya gotta give it a try.
Good Luck Fishin and Keep Yer Line Wet. If ya see me out their, Im in a Pontoon Bass Buggy with a Pole Holder off each side so come on buy share some info.

John, were you jigging or trolling??? that's about the best report I've heard from Boyd all year! I've fished it quite abit this season, with one keeper. probably atleast 100 eyes 10-13inches, and thats no lie!, but I haven't fished the SW corner. Once we hit the pump house, we usually cut across to the south, then work it in front of the houses. Will try it in the morning!!!!

My son and I fished Boyd on the SW side from 7-11 this morning. Caught 10 walleyes, and an assortment of other fish: Perch, crappie, large, small, and white bass. NO KEEPERS. Started at the inlet channel, then worked our way to the south side of the lake. Jigged with a variety of jigs tipped with half a crawler, in 7 to 15 feet of water. Could not locate any larger fish. South corner gets really weedy. If all this little eyes get to grow up, it might be some great fishing the next couple of years, but thats what I always here about Chatfield too, and the keepers are few and far between!
May go again tommorrow, before all the ski traffic!
John

Hey Crockett, Yeah they were White Bass. Just got back from fishing Swanson Res. in Nebraska, at Trenton. Caught wipers like ya wouldn't believe. Couldn't get my mind off of em I guess. Yer right, they were white Bass. Ya want a blast, fish Swanson Res. 3 days fishin and got 28, with another couple. Geez, all 4-9 lbs. Only can keep 1 fish over 18 inches tho so most of em went back. What a blast. Gotta hit it again this fall.
Good Luck Fishin - n - keep yer line wet - -

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
