Aurora Reservoir

Recommended Posts

Fished Aurora Reservoir on Saturday 02/07/04 and caught about 10 perch and a rainbow between the four of us.

The perch were all about 10 inches long. We used minnows, crawlers, and meal worms. We fished that big point on the east side that has the outhouse on it. Most of the fish came from 30 feet and deeper. Right off the bottom.

The ice was about 7 inches with about 4 or 5 inches of snowy/slush on it.

Felt like we were fishing in Auschwitz cuz the of the military like presence of the Aurora Reservoir Rangers. They sit up in their trucks and spy on you and then they sneak up on you from behind when you are out on the ice.

It was a good thing I was participating in my normal participatories on the ice like I usually do if you know what I mean.

There is a show this Friday night at Bottoms Up at I-225 and Parker. It's Satan's Host. www.satanshost.com. You should plan to attend!

Isn't 106.9 KBPI?

Don't get me started on the Nazi regime at Aurora Res. My cousin and I got kicked off the lake one day because they accused us of too much weight in the boat. They have hassled us for licenses, boat registration, measuring our fish, etc. It is ALWAYS something--nearly every time we go there. Now when we fish there and see the guards in their trucks looking at us with binoculars, we stand up and flip them off with both hands so there is absolutely no doubt that we are being intentionally disrespectful to them. THEY ARE JERKS!

Dont forget about Quincy Res.-those guys are just brutal! You know,I bet since Quincy is closed the Luftwaffe just moved over to Aurora-it seems to me that a few years ago the rangers at aurora were pretty cool but they were always bad at Quincy!Where's the love?

Let me start off by saying that it wasn't me that was breaking any of the fishing regulations, but a couple of the guys I fished with were fishing with their 3 pole licenses. The rangers snuck up behind us and luckily those guys saw them coming. One cut their line and the other one reeled up really fast. All they said was, "Did you get that one up fast enough?"

They easily could have given them tickets.

They were personable as well. Talked a bit about fishing and the lake.

I think the problem lies in the funding the city has done in respect to staffing there. They had way too many people working so they have nothing to do but stare at you through binoculars.

Rangers at Aurora personable? Nice? Talk about fishing? WOW! They must be sending them to sensitivity training. I have no problem with them "doing their job," and if somebody was breaking fishing regulations they deserve a ticket and should have gotten one. Those rangers have hassled us plenty over the years and we follow ALL regulations and they knew it, because they knew us. I guess it was because there were too many of them and they had nothing better to do.
