Night time Walleyes

Recommended Posts

Has anybody been catching any walleyes at night this year. I am thinking about Friday evening but haven't heard much about the subject. I may go to Chatfield or Boyd since both are open 24 hours.

any comments please post reply

The only reports of walleye catches I have heard of have been at night and that was at Chatfield. I would call Uncle Milts bait shop for current info.

Hey Behmer,
I might go to Chatfield on Friday night my self. Haven't heard any good reports but its a full moon on Friday night so it might be worth a try. My experience is that its great Walleye fishing on a full moon and great slimer fishing on a new moon. Hope that the moon is shining bright that night. Good luck and maybe all see you there. I'll probably park at the swim beach if I go.

I will probably be at Catfish Flats and work my way North along the rock piles, I will have a black 2 man Glacier shanty and my buddy will have a clam 5600 (to darn big for me)out there, we plan on leaving from work hopefully around 3:00 be on ice by 5:00 and fully functional by 6:00 until about midnight then either leave and come back at 4:00 for the morning bite or just tough it out from midnight.

The rocks are kinda hard to explain, I have located the pileson the south end kinda towards the left as your walking out from Catfish Flats. in water about 35-40 feet, you will suddenly find a little bit shallower water, approx 25 feet for about 10 -15 feet wide then back to 35-40 feet, I call these the rock piles, NEVER fish the sides ...skunk city, either right on top, or off to the side in level bottom,

Fished Chatfield Friday night till 10:30. Fished N.E. of swim beach in 12Ft of water. Caught 4 Eyes between 6"-12". 2 on jigging Rap (perch) tipped with minnow head and 2 on Dead stick (live minnow). Only marked 1 big one coming through and she wasn't interested. Oh well thats been par for the course for me at Chatfield. Probably should have hiked out to the pits.

Dan, I did not get your phone call until today. My cell phone does not work where we live at Pinewood reservoir so I did not turn it on till today. Sorry about that. We have taken some really big perch out of Lake Loveland this year but right now things have slowed to a standstill. It was slow all season but for perch that were that big, it was ok to wait. Now they have pretty much disappeared so guess I will have to look in other areas this week and see if I can find anything.

Fished Lake Lovland Friday night from 10 - 1, not a bite! Fished right off colorado street, like someone suggested, never had a bite! Dan, at least you caught a few, small fish are better than no fish. There were lots of people out on Saturday when we drove by.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
