Aurora Reservoir ice fishing 1/30/04
Article By: Donald Broeren, [YouNeedAuthorization].com

Aurora Reservoir has had a safe lid of ice since early January, now
about 6 inches in most areas. Rainbow trout and yellow perch are the
primary species for hard water anglers.

I have been catching trout and perch out of the same holes in 25 ft.
of water or less on small jigs tipped with mealworms, wax worms, or
small strips of sucker meat. The trout seem to prefer the mealworms
and wax worms, while the perch really love the sucker meat. The most
productive areas for me have been the eastern shoreline and Lonetree
Cove.

I highly recommend a portable fish finder or flasher, it is very
important to know what depth you are fishing and whether there are
any fish in the area. It is also important to keep moving until you
find fish, I never stay in one spot for more than 20 minutes if
I'm not seeing any fish on the sonar.

If you have any questions about fishing at Aurora Reservoir, or
fishing in Colorado, drop me a line at donald@[YouNeedAuthorization].com.
I read and reply to every email I receive from fellow anglers.
I'll see you on the water!

Aurora Reservoir is located two miles east of Gun Club Road on Quincy
Avenue in Aurora. There is a daily fee of $4 per vehicle. The park
is open from dawn to dusk.
