Eskimo,

I was out there on Friday and Saturday (South Shore) and talked to a bunch of unhappy guys who had gotten skunked at Witchers. They coulda been fibbing, but that aint what their faces said.

I am trying the South Shore or somewhere altogether different Thursday. Witchers and Howbert have not been good for me this year, and I am out there 3 times a week.

<added fishing report from 11 Mile Marina>

"Scenery the hot catch this week. Pressure ridges grow like flowers out of the ice. Some frustrated folks are claiming the lake has been fished out. Thats absurd. This lake has more fish in it then ever. Thats why they call it fishing not catching. Either try another spot on the lake or try another lake.

ELEVEN MILE RESERVOIR: The open water sections have capped over. The lack of wind has kept them secure for now. We are hoping to see an increase in catching action with the current conditions. Thickness of ice in new capped areas not thick enough for us to venture out on yet. Most other ice 10 to 18 inches.

SALMON: Fair to poor. Most areas are not seeing much activity. Best luck out of Witchers Cove east of Deer Island into the deep water. Some decent action most ranging in the 14 to 16 inch size. We have caught some really big ones out from Corral Cove in 50 feet of water, 18 to 21 inches, but the action has been very spotty.

TROUT: Fair to poor. Most action on the South side of the lake. Witchers Cove and Howbert Point the most consistent. Fish that are caught continue to be over 3 lbs. North Shore, Rocky Flats and Stoll Mt. saw very little success although Corral Cove did see a few big ones over 5 lbs. The fish seem to be very spread out and difficult to find. When we do find them they do bite.

PIKE: Fair to poor if you can find them. Not much changing here. Although we have seen a few big ones, we couldn't get them to take anything."

Was down at General Tackle to see if they got any reports in from 11-mile. They said things seem to be looking a little better. They had 2 different guys that came in yesterday that said they caught 10 plus trout each. 14 feet or so... At least thats what they were told. They also said some of the guys fishing deeper in 50' were pulling some in - Witchers, and Coyote ridge had at least 30 cars on Saturday.... Tim
