Where would you go?????

6 of us are going ice fishing Jan 12-16 and are trying to decide which lake to go to. It is between Williams Fork, Granby or Stagecoach. I hear good things about all three of them.

I'd hit stagecoach if the ice is good! Great Pike and Trout are possible!

Based on your info, sounds like you are interesteed in Northerns. If I had four days in a row to fish Northerns, I would hit Valentine Wildlife Refuge just south of Valentine, Nebraska. Pelican lake there has the BEST Northern action I have ever had in my life, and I usually go once or twice per winter. Call Merritt Trading Post (Merritt State Park) for info. They will B.S. plenty, but also give you a bit of reality as well. There are also bull 'Gills and nice perch there. There is another lake called Big Alkili that has slab Crappies, but they can be tough to find. FYI--you may not posess live minnows on the refuge--can't even have them in your vehicle! I use frozen smelt for Northerns and the action abounds! Also, you can LEGALLY use FIVE DIFFERENT LINES through the ice in Nebraska--good luck keeping up with them if you go. Between two of us we have never gotten more than 7 tip ups going because the action is too intense!!

Thanks for the Neb info Reg. I have fished up there but we fished the arm of yhe lake. Caught crappie but all were small. We also caught 2 12lb channel cat on the upper part of the arm. It is about 5 and 1/2hrs from here in Burlington Co.

I"ve never seen Bonny with safe ice. I think I would be one of the first there if it were. The six of us are going to the Delaneys then down to Granby on the way home.
