Quincy

Recommended Posts

Greetings Everyone! Long time no post. Sorry but I've been busy starting out my life post college. I tried my hardest to move to Minnesota or Wisconsin so I could hunt true strain musky but I couldn't find any work. So I did the next best thing, I bought a house on the fence at Quincy in Coot's Alley. Now I can enjoy Quincy from every window and fish every morning until 9 (before work. Plus, I recieved an underwater for my graduation present.

ANYHOO

Quincy is warming up. The trout action has been excellent from what I've heard. The mornings have been filled with jumping bait fish. The bass have just spawned but I've caught a few on some musky cranks. As for tigers it is getting close to the prime time temperture. I've missed two the last two days. Wednesday, I had four casts at a sub legal tiger. I think my bait was too big for it or something. It looked pretty small compared to my bait. Yesterday I saw one serpent out where I landed my 44 last season. But I couldn't get any direct casts at it and I couldn't call it back up. It looked close to being legal but I can't say for sure. My wife told me it has to be 50 to take it home. So I have to aim high. Well back to work.....

Avalanche.

Welcome back! Looking forward to your reports. Judging from the Mn. & Wisc. posts looks like everyone gets laid off in the winter and they spend every day ice fishing. (Not that their is anything wrong with that)

Best of luck on the 50!

Bass fishing is on, I've been picking them up on my musky gear almost every morning. As far as tigers, I've had a couple follows but nothing big enough. About a week ago a tiger (a small one) exploded completely out of the water at my bait but it missed. It got me a little excited. Water temp low sixties but the recent front will probably drop that and really stir it up..........Remember, this cast could be the cast..........

This morning just before I launched, the ranger (which I know on a first name basis) was making his way down towards me to talk. When he was intercepted by a guy with a 5 gallon bucket screaming and yelling I have the NEW state record smallmouth. So those two went up to get the offical weight. It turned out to be only 7 oz short. It was 5lbs and 5oz! It was a SOLID smallie. He showed it to me then RELEASED it! NO KIDDING!!! The bass are hot, I picked 3 up on musky gear this morning. Tigers have been slow, but I did see a big one the other day. Well back to work.
PS
This cast could be the cast!!!

On a recent outing with one of the rangers, we lost a 40+er boat side. He tossed out his bait and a couple of turns of his handle and WHAM! It jumped and did a massive head shake. Then went down to the depths and came back up. I went for the craddle and that is when she shook his bait out. ****! Water Temp 65-66 ish.
