Well drove over 400 miles to go sample the wonderful fishing at Merrit. Well I could have saved the gas and out of state license fee. Fished two days really hard, weather was good one day, not so good the next. Caught one 5 1n. crappie and he came up from 35 ft so could not release him. The locals all said that it has been bad all year. At least the ice was good with about 12-13 in.

Pescador, That's a long way to go for a little crappie. We are planning on a Valentine trip in two weeks. Were abouts on Merrit did you fish, and did you fish any of the little lakes on the refuge?? I think we were planning on staying away from Merrit, but hitting the Pike, Crappie , and Perch at Smith and Big Alkali lakes. Any info would be greatly appreciated!!

I fished the boardman arm with a local who usually wins a place on the local tournaments. He seemed to know his stuff. He says it has been a slow year period for merrit. Did talk to several people who had been to Pelican and one other undisclosed lake where the perch were supposedly biting. I think part of our problem was weather fronts. It snowed Sunday and I woke up in the camper to rain on Tuesday morning.
