icebum1
I'm going up to visit my sister this week. Does anyone know of any decent lakes in the area? I'm taking my nephew out for the first time . He's 12 , so I would like to put him on some fish. so he keeps interest in this fine sport. I would drive a couple hrs from thier house. Any info would be great . Thanx to all.

Captain Ken
Nothing comes to mind right in that area....There are some forest preserve lakes south of there, not sure about ice or fishing quality on them. If you go north, there is the Fox Chain of Lakes, but that will be a real solid hour north. I have not been out myself, but with the nice cold weather the ice on the chain should have tightened up. There is still open water near bridges and such, so I would always stay away from there----current. Marie, Channel, Petite and Catherine are winter favorites.Ken------------------Captain Ken Kesslerwww.captainken.comGuiding in Illinois and North East Minnesota847-970-9108 Illinois218-742-4680 Minnesota

Captain Ken
Hi SteveSorry it took so long to respond. Everytime I got on this page my computer's browser did not like something and shut down. That STINKS about your stuff. Glad it was insured. We had a blast in MN. Cliff and I went into the BWCA and caugh a nice trout and some nice walleyes. See his post on the IL site about a trip he took with his son the week after. It's great up there. We are planning the muskie school again for September. It will be Sept 23-25 on Lake Vermilion. Excited about that! Me, Musky Tom, Ace and Dave Swenson. Stay safe on the ice.Ken------------------Captain Ken Kesslerwww.captainken.comGuiding in Illinois and North East Minnesota847-970-9108 Illinois218-742-4680 Minnesota
