icebum1
I checked five farm ponds in the canton area last night 4",s of good clear ice. Get out the buckets it's time to go. Also looked at Banner Marsh, I would use caution on the bigger lakes , still had some open water due to the geese. Duck Island had 3 1/2 on the west end ,but open water on the east side due to the bird's again. Let,s get out the guns and send em south, it's time to fish!! Going to checck lake Storey, later today deeper water so probably not frozen over yet, one can only hope. I caught alot of nice crappie and a few great walleye up there last year! Let's get em again. We'll try to keep everybody posted on ice and the bite. Always going to different lakes around the state, mainly central and western Il good luck and good fishing!!!!!!!! Bearclawchris
Lake Storey should be good. I have a buddy that checked Oak Run today and had 4 inches toward center of lake. Sounds like Game on to me. Good fishing.

Bearclawchris
Fished a small farm pond today. 4 inches hard clear ice. Those cracks always get me no matter how much I go. Caught a few Bluegill late morning. Perhaps tommorrow will be better in the late afternoon. Good luck and stay dry.
icebum1
Fished the main lake at the marsh again yesterday. Didn't do so well. caught over 50 ,but only had 5 keepers 1 just over 16".The ice turned really bad at end of day. Started out with 3 1/2 ended with maybe 2. South wind was rotten.I had one h**l of a time trying to get off the lake , Got that out of my system anyway (lol). punching in at just over 220 lbs it's 4" of ice or nothing at all. I'm getting to old for that thin stuff. any size on your gills?

Bearclawchris
Only about 9 inches on best gill. Didn't try on the 12th. The ice I was on Sunday was getting wet and spongey so I decided to wait until the weather gets a little colder before my next try. I go about 230lbs so I know what you mean about at least 4 inches of ice.
