Mississippi Waters

Made a trip to the Miss 12-03-02. The upper Browns above Sabula (Iowa side) 11/2" to 2" did
not fish. Potters Marsh at Thompson(Il side) 2" ice, a few crappies being caught. Above Fulton Il. at Mickelsons 2" and "iffy ice" a few Gills caught. I had to go back to work Wed the 4th but will be back to these areas bright and early Sat morning. Where are all the Iowa and Ill. fisherman? We need some posts on the ice conditions. I'll report after Sat or Sun trip.

Thanks for the post Loner!

2 inches is about three or four shy for this fisherman! Hopefully with this cold weather we will get some good ice development so people can fish without risking their lives!

Glad to see some geographic diversity on the forum! Tell all your friends to go to fishingminnesota and look for the Illinois forum!

IceC: Yes the area of the Upper Browns is the Green Island conservation area. It has been cold nights since I was last there on Tuesday the 3rd. I'll be at one of those Pool 13 areas again at day break in the morning. During this 1st ice time I wear my noeprene waders and not a step on the ice without my ice picks around my neck. Be safe on the ice if you go out soon and I'll be looking for some reports about Okiboji if you happen to know good ice there.
Good luck on the ice. Rich BTW I did walk the dike from the parking lot to the river. Two miles each way on the GPS.
