Lake Hendricks

Recommended Posts

I fished it over christmas and did no good as well. It's the third time i've fished there and have yet to catch or see more than a few fish be caught. Its a typical small northern iowa lake, gills, specks, bass, cats, about 30 acres, up by riceville.

I wouldnt bother driving that far, I can almost guarantee you'll be disapointed. If you like perch I can help ya out, check out silver and rice lakes around the forrest city area. You'll catch a ton, but there are some nice ones. And some monster pike to.

Not quite sure what goes on in Lake Hendricks in mid-winter. The fish literally SHUT OFF. The vex will be lit up like a Christmas tree but they will NOT bite. I grew up on that lake and there are some of the biggest panfish you will ever find in that lake. I've seen crappies come off of there that rival URL. To have the best luck on that lake, you have to be on there during very early ice. Late ice is okay but still very slow. Last year the ice had pulled away from the shore about 4 feet but I was determined....took off my boots and socks..rolled up my pants and waded out to good ice. I was the only moron doing this obviously but I caught one of the biggest perch i've ever seen. There are also some northerns in there. Bass population has really rebounded.
Fishgutz....Lake Fork is calling our names!

Hey Doop, I went out there this weekend and there were 2 icehouses. Noone fishing at all. I brought my stuff down and tried it for a couple of hours and had one bite and it was light, noway to set the hook. I was talking to some guys up at andy's and they say there's too much food in there. It's the best bluegill fishery I've ever fished, gonna have to wait til spring....

I'm ready for lake fork.....WOW!!!!
