NW Iowa Pheasants

Recommended Posts

I have a chance to come to Iowa (from Minnesota) in a couple weeks (November 22 weekend) to hunt pheasants around Le Mars in Plymouth county. Are the bird numbers worth the trip? We'll have access to some private land as my mothers side of the family are farmers in the area but not hunters.

When is deer season in that part of the state? I don't want to plan a pheasant trip in the middle of deer season.

From what my uncle says, the corn should be out in another week in that area. Sound about right?

We came down about 4 years ago and had a fair hunt but not that many birds. Hoping the population is up this year.

Thank you and may I say, you have a beautiful state with a lot of well taken care of farms and homesteads in the Le Mars area that I have seen. That is nice to see.

Bird #'s a very good.Deer season(shotgun) is not until the first week-end of December. It looks to be a great year so I would make it down if you have a chance.

Sounds great! I think I will go ahead and make plans to come down. Thanks for the tips on the other counties and public land. I'll keep that in mind in case the birds are not around the areas my uncle has lined up in Plymouth county.

Any more suggestions or comments?
