Racine (Wis) Salmon-a-Rama is underway, and continues thru the week until noon Sunday the 21st. After the first weekend there were some super hogs posted, but the big news is German brown trout. Four browns over 20 lbs have been weighed in, including one over 26.

Kings over 20 are common, and steelhead up to 18+ have been entered.

Update on Salmon-a-Rama. The 9-day contest closed Sunday at noon. The off-shore winners were as follows: Chinook, 25.78 to 32.68 lbs; Coho, 7.72 to 9.18 lbs; Lake trout, 20.56 to 31.06 lbs; Brown trout, 19.02 to 27.36 lbs; and Rainbow, 13.18 to 20.40 lbs.

Biggest on-shore catch was a 28.86 lb Chinook. Nice brown and rainbows were also taken from shore.

This is proving to be another banner year for big salmonids on Lake Michigan.
