Guest
Kenosha's Cohorama was held a couple weeks ago with some fine fish being posted -- top Chinook was over 25, coho 12, lakers topping 21, and browns and rainbows in the high teens. For the third week in June, these are big salmonids.Next week the biggest contest on the Great Lakes begins -- Racine's Salmon-a-Rama. In this one, Kings will have gained enough heft to exceed 30, and lakers of 30+ are also likely. What remains largely a secret in Minnesota among the Lake Michigan anglers I know is how good the fishing is in the southern basin of the big lake. The season is longer, the catch rate higher, and the fish are bigger in the waters off Wisconsin from Kenosha at the Illinois line, north to Port Washington, some 20 miles north of Milwaukee.Good launch facilities are available all along the shoreline. And, fishing is as hot as the weather right now.
