I just visited your web page and noticed you caught your first shovelnose! Congrats! I've tried on two, 3 hour one way, trips to catch my first. First trip was to New Ulm second to Mankato and New Ulm. I just couldn't seem to get one to bite. We managed one that my friend caught. Where on the MN River did you catch yours? Did you catch more than one that day? And were you targeting sturgeon, or was it by accident? I'll probably make the trip next spring when they are in the river thick to spawn. Again congrats!

That's my brother Andy (Hogsucker). I still haven't caught one myself.

The key is fishing the heaviest current available, with a large weight.
